Paul Dawber was actually born in
Liverpool, England and his family immigrated to Australia when he
was 5 years old.
He grew up in Melbourne's working-class Western
Suburbs. At high school he was interested in art, music and drama.
He had the lead in 2 school plays and sang with the school rock
'n' roll band.
Unfortunately the school didn't encourage him to
pursue a career in the Arts, they encouraged all their students
to get a trade or an 'office job'. Paul took an office job and after
several years he was restless and disillusioned. |
|
He quit his job and travelled around Australia becoming
an oil explorer in the Gibson Desert for a year before rediscovering his
high school passions for acting and singing. In 1984, Paul began his studies,
which were to last for 3 years, at the National Theatre Drama School in
Melbourne. At the same time, he made T.V. commercials and sang with the
cult Melbourne bands "The Shuffling Hungarians" and "The
Rio Rangers".

His first 'Lead role' break came
in 1987 where he played "Todd Buckley" in the final year
of the TV series "Sons and Daughters". This was followed
by a play with the Queensland Theatre Co. where he played the romantic,
swashbuckling hero Jonathan Harker in "Count Dracula".
Paul then fell in love with Jazz and formed the highly successful
band "Feed The Cats" followed by "3 Bips & A
Bop!".
In 1993 Paul retired from music to concentrate
solely on his main career, Acting. Early that same year he relocated
to L.A. and became a principal actor with "The Los Angeles
Shakespeare Company".
